AAA if you are a member or a tow truck driver can open it for you.
This is why everyone should have spare keys made.

If you don't have road side service (AAA) call your buddies. I'm sure they will know some buddy that can break into your car. I've watched how the pros do it and it ain't pretty. In fact it can be quite shocking. Just don't watch and it will be over before you know it.

Won't kick a guy when he's down. --it happens.

For next time, measure the resistance in the chip in your key. Then, on line you can order duplicate keys with the right chip, for about 10 bucks apiece; or there abouts. Years ago, I got 3, and it seems they were 8 to 10 dollars each...

Then, take that blank to your local locksmith, and have him cut the key to duplicate your original.

Hope you find a good locksmith, to get your car open.

Don

Maybe its cause I'm in my 50's now and have my share of senior moments hahaha. Especially after a couple of Glenmorange single malt scotches. So what I do and its saved me several times is a magnet hide a key with the spare in all four of my vehicles including my scooter (hog). No worries + less grey hair and noooooo ones the wiser, when time time calls for it, whaaaala!

Btw In the 01 Vert there's a good spot right under the rear center. Kinda near that back plate under that fits that magnet beautifully. Good luck mo.

There is a stickey under the tech section for a good read for new ownrs and it says, if u have a passive entry system and i am not sure what that means, and u lock keys n car, wait 10 min. And rock the car and it will unlock. I tried it on mine and couldn't get it to unlock. I had the other key n hand just n case.

You can buy a spare fob for less than 20 bucks on ebay and program it, or have a key cut for a couple of bucks without the resistor that will unlock the door. Have one or the other where you can access it without calling a locksmith.

Pray tell how you locked it inside? Your 01 doesn't have passive FOB so the FOB would be attached to the key??? And if it is, how did you press the button to lock it. I'm trying to figure this one out. The only scenario where you could lock it in is to open the door, either use the FOB to lock the door or do it manually, set the keys down inside, then close the door. Also, most have a 2nd key or another FOB. Anyway, slim jim is the correct answer here. You will be in your car faster than you ever thought. A locksmith can easily get in also. You don't need a key with a chip on it to unlock your car. Just have a plain ol' key cut that matches yours and put it in your wallet.

I did that a few years ago at a carshow.long story short, after I got home I went to a lock smith and had a key made for 6$ without the chip, and now carry it in my wallet just to open the door.

went to take vette out and the battery was down put the charger on and 45 min later took the charger off went to get into the car and the door was locked all by it self...this gets better... I took a shot at opening the door and set off the alarm instead and with that the door unlocked lucky me
