Bulge in hose
I took my car out of storage late last week. After washing it I checked the fluid levels, started it up and let it run for a bit. After about 10 minutes I shut if off and was inspecting the engine bay when I noticed that the upper radiator hose had a bulge in it where it meets the engine block. I let the car cool down and examined it again and it seem to come down a bit. I squeezed it an compared it to the rest of the hose and it seemed a little soft compared to everywhere else. Needless to say I ordered a new hose but was wondering if it is possible that the thermostat may also have an issue. Is it a wearable item?

Since you are in there replace it.
Some may use a 160 degree

You need a new hose for sure. If your car warms up quickly and doesn't overheat, the thermostat is working properly. They do fail sometimes, so you could replace it as long as you are doing the hoses.

Thanks gents. I'll pick up a new thermostat as well. I know these cars are built well but with 110K on the clock I need to keep an eye out for these little anomalies so she can last me another 110

Perfect time to buy an LS2 thermostat housing and use a conventional thermostat. Plug-n-play and any future thermostat issues/needs, will be WAY cheaper. GM did away with the all-one-piece thermostat and housing assembly on all LS engines (LS2, LS3, LS7, etc) beginning with the LS2s.

When you're down there make sure you blow out the radiator. I blew mine out last weekend and I was surprised how bad it was since it ran so cool. There were leaves, a knapkin, several receipts, cigarette, and a check stub. These cars make good vacuum cleaners.
