Got my windows tinted a couple weeks ago and noticed the tint was not looking too good at the top of my rear window where the dot matrix is...
After researching I found where vinyl was an option, so I took it back and asked them to fix it. Now there is a strip of vinyl on the outside of my rear window, it doesn't look terrible I just thought the vinyl would go on the inside and not the outside?? Just wondering anyone else out there that has done the vinyl over the dot matrix is your vinyl on the outside or inside?
I had the same issue with mine when it was first done. The shop said to leave it in the sun for a while and it would improve. It did improve, but its not perfect. However, it's good enough that I wouldn't cover it with vinyl or plastidip.
I too went through this. First, the Vinyl should be on the inside not the outside. Second it looks 100 times better than tint when done right. It COMPLETELY covers the dot matrix and doesn't look splotchy at all. They have to have the correct thin vinyl and know what they are doing. You can research online about it. There is a special vinyl called Dotrix which was made specifically for this reason. Its more expensive though.

Thank you everyone for the replies.. I was thinking that it should be on the inside too. I will look into this and maybe just take the car somewhere else for the rear window. Thanks again!
I had mine done in 5% tint and he used black vinyl around the edges and sort of faded it to the 5%. It looks perfect. Vinyl on the outside doesn't seen like a good idea to me. I will take a close up when I get off work.
