Is that the cargo mat laying over the top of the sub?
It is, I don't put the hard cover on but I do let the cargo mat lay on the top, helps protect and hide it.
What you don't see is a spacer I made out of hard foam to give it about 1 1/2 inches of space to breath.

I've gone back and forth on whether to install a couple amps, some coax's and a sub. I have plenty of stereo stuff from mild to wild, but the idea of adding the extra weight bothers me.
Hell, right now I have to crank up the volume (stock bose) to try to make out what song is playing. My full exhaust w b&b bullets is loud and droney. Couldn't imagine the guys that run straights.
JL 6w3 coupled with 6.5" c2 separates in the doors and a phoenix gold tantrum 400.4 running it all
sub box weighs less than 3lbs and is made out of pine. i really wanted to keep the weight down but add a little rear fill. with cabin gain i'm nearly flat to 40hz. isn't the loudest system but it's light and sounds decent
