hi guys just bought C5 convertible with 11, 500 miles! like it! had a 1968 when I was 20 yrs old, big block, convertible, wish I still had it!!, later in life , late 30's had a 73 coupe for 5 years, but got tired of the climb in an out an the terrible ride! They have come along way!! anyway, here is my question, a buddy has a 2002 coupe, mine is a convert, 2003, his storage compartment on left rear is smooth an unobstructed, mine has some kind of finned magnesium or aluminum device showing in this compartment! Is this standard? oh , by the way, was born in 1950, so thought I should have 50th anniversary vette, thanks for any insight
congrats on your find. Three months ago I bought a 2001 vert but it has 35k miles - pretty low miles too. Mine doesn't have any finned box in there. Could it be the optional cd changer you're seeing?? or an after market stereo amp? Post a pic?

My buddy just bought an AE Vert too. His has the same box in the compartment. Not for sure what it's for, but it makes the compartment almost useless for anything else. I was also born in 50 but I have a 99 Vert, and love it. I just retired in February, and loving that too. Get to drive the Vette more now.
Welcome to the Forum.. We need to see some pictures of this new toy!!!!!
That finned box is the controller for the F55 Magnetic Selective Ride Control RPO. On your console will be 2 round buttons the right most will have a **** that lets you select Tour or Sport. Tour is a relatively soft ride and sport is a more aggressive setting.
You will NOT like that RPO when it comes time to replace the shocks. BIG $$$$.. Dealer price is going to be near $1000 per shock PLUS installation. You cannot just take the F55 shocks out and replace with standard shocks. Well you can as long as you don't want to drive over 80 mph.... You will be limited to 80 by the computer if the shocks fail or are removed WITHOUT deleting the F55 RPO from the BCM.
thanks for replies, I do have the f55 susp, so that's gotta be it! cars pretty quick, my old 68 427 was a torque monster, and would just smoke the back tires off! I will try to post some picts soon, thanks again, t tom
