Default Core Charge?

Please pardon my ignorance on this topic. I was on a vendor site recently shopping for a few colored accents for the interior of my C5. Two of the items I am looking at are a colored replacement steering wheel and a colored replacement boot and shift ****. The steering wheel and the shift **** come with a mandatory core charge that is refundable by the company. But what the heck are they referring too? I am assuming I will have to send something back to them?

You'll have to send them your originals so they can upgrade them and sell them to the next guy.

I bought a D shaped two toned wheel for my C6 from DSV in Texas - - same deal - - -you send back your old steering wheel so they can customize it for the next guy.

Thank you for the quick response. I should have guessed. Kind of like a core charge on a battery.

They do this so they don't have a fortune tied up in spare parts. They will require the parts you send back to be in full working shape.
