Default Track wheels/tires help

I'm hoping to start heading to the west coast corvette challenge on a regular basis. With that in mind i saw a set of wheels/tires advertised to fit my 04 Z06. They are i think c4 Zr1 wheels 17x11 & 17x9 real light weight. The have 275/40 and 325/40 R1 tires on them, with just the initial heat cycle completed. Of course you all know what happened when i put them on...they fit but hit the calipers...

So, before i do another stupid waste of money thing, id like to know what you think of my new choice 335/30 18 and. 285/30 18 R1's. Ive got a widebody car so already have 335/30 19 275/30 19 NT05's on the card so I am pretty sure the new r1's will fit.

Im just trying to make the best choice for track rims/tires. I was choosing the r1 over hoosier because im roading it to the track. A truck is in my future but not near future.

If you're going to dedicate a set of wheels as track wheels I would get some more narrow. Those tire sizes will end up costing you a fortune and you won't gain anything from them.

I run 285/35/18's & 305/35/18's.

I agree, definitely check tire prices before making a decision so you know what you're getting into. While huge tires look menacing the gains most likely wouldn't be worth the cost, especially if you're doing DE's and HPDE's..

Well, he's already got the R1s, so he might as well use them; there's no reason not to use those and switch tires once they're worn out.

If you use a small spacer, I'm sure you could use those wheels and tires just fine. You could also track down a different set of wheels with proper offsets, but then you would be dedicating yourself to 17-inch rubber.

So once those smaller tires get hot on the track, do you think they would be fine with higher hp. I have a built motor plus supercharger 523 rwhp.

Well, you got me all excited but it was short lived. Tried an 1/8" spacer, no go. Tried doubling them up, no go. And after 1/4 inch I'm running out of stud which isnt really worth it to change out 10 studs for one set of track tires...those darn calipers are just in the way...maybe i should just grind em down..

HHMM. With that much power unless you are running slicks then you might need the wider tire. In a 305 slick you might be OK. I am really not sure as I don't have that much power.

Nope, you'd likely have to use a full-on adapter

I'm sure you can find guys who have run them. I unfortunately have not, but I know I've seen them on C5 track setups before. Carefully measure and see what you come up with; if you can't use them, sell them and upgrade
