Default Titan TPMS sensors

So I recently replaced my wheels and and also my TPMS sensors with some Titan branded sensors that are compatible with my 99. I have tried everything to get these to be recognized by the car with no luck. Magnet, letting air out, putting air in.... nothing seems to work. Im really in no hurry to pay to have them removed, buy good ones, and pay to have those installed. Also would be nice if im able to get my money back if they turn outbtonbe defective. That being said, if anyone has any sugestions im all ears. Just figured id rant for a sec. Thanks for reading. Also yes, I did have the car in the learning mode for tpms and yes these are supposed to be for the earlier c5's

I did go back to check my invoice from the vendor and it definitely was the set compatible with the earlier c5s. Now.... that being said... I very well could been sent the wrong parts, however unlikely or... Im only the third owner of the car. I know the mods the second owner did but its possible the first guy may have done the newer tpms conversion. I purchased the car with a set of c6 base wheels so the TPMS sensors had to be changed in one fashion or another at one point. How can I tell if I have a newer TPMS monitor in the car? Ill definitely be call tech support in the am.

Thank you. That stinks though. I have to be doing something wrong. I really cant believe they're all bad out of the the box. No way. I did try all of them with no luck at all. I tried several different magnets. Used a hard drive magnet at one point you cant get much better than that including a ceramic one with a hole I the middle like the oe tool. The vendors site says to trigger these I need to deflate or inflate the tires. I dropped them about 10 pounds. May be that wasn't enough? Ill have to call around tomorrow. Again, thank you.

I have the Titan TPMS sensors. I installed them a couple of weeks ago, but didn't get around to "learning" them until last weekend.

After I bought them, I read some bad reviews (and some good reviews) on them, and was prepared to "chalk it up" to a learning experience.

On my first attempt I used a regular magnet. No joy AT ALL! Crap!
A few days later I borrowed a "super" magnet from a friend at work. Man, this thing was so strong that it was comical...I mean, this thing would stick to something, and you'd darn near have to get a pair of vise grips to get it off!

Well, I placed the magnet on the barrel of the rim, behind the valve stem, and the damned thing sucked itself up onto the rotor! ****! I had to wedge my big-assed meat hook in there and pry that little bastard off....note to self.....better control of the magnet.....

When I had the car in learning mode, I put the magnet right on top of the valve stem, and right away I got the "honk!" (I'm not sure, but the car might have been yelping in pain from the magnet! )

Did all four wheels in about 30 seconds. When I got in the car, only one wheel was showing a pressure indication....luckily I remembered that someone had posted that you might need to get up to about 20 mph in order to get the TPMS out of sleep mode; what do you know, as soon as I started driving, one by one, they all came to life!

I had really good luck with the Titan TPMS. I don't know about yours, but I suggest that before you throw in the towel, you try a big, rare-earth magnet....

IHTH,
KoreaJon

I had the Titan TPMS installed with my new tires last year with no issues. Slight decrease in tire pressure worked as instructed during training procedure on my 2000.

UPDATE: So yes... I did find a much stronger magnet and after some fiddling the sensors did work. Little red in the face here but, the slight decrease/ increase in pressure did not trigger the sensor as per the instructions on the vendors website and further more it doesn't change the fact that I found multiple bad reviews on these. I was wrong and jumped the gun a little there. I am very happy they are working now. I've worked with other TPMS sensors in the past and did not have this much difficulty.

Apparently all TPMS Sensors are not equal and all sorts of good people have been burned over all different car manufacturers. Im really in no hurry to pay to have them removed, buy good ones, and pay to have those installed. Also would be nice if im able to get my money back. Im so unbelievably pissed right now its unreal but I should've known. You get what you pay for. Buyer beware friends. Titan TPMS sensors are garbage. I appreciate the response. I really do. The sensors are working fine now. No issues. My biggest gripe was the difficulty I had getting them to be recognized by my vehicle. I realize everyone's skill level and mechanical experiance is different, but I really have done this more than a few times. I did follow the vendors instructions closely with no luck at all. As mentioned in an earlier reply, I also had to use a very strong magnet to trigger these. Might have been the make up of the wheel that I was using that caused the other magnets to be in affective. I realised that more than likely I was doing something wrong if none of the sensors were triggering. I dont expect every aftermarket part to work perfectly for every application. Thats just life and its what helps you to think outside the box. Im an engineer by trade and problems like this, "while frustrating" can be fun and very good learning experiences. Im not looking for a free ride or anything of the sort. I do appreciate your response, but they're working fine now. No harm, no foul and I'm not going to remove them just because the inflate/ deflate procedure didn't work or because for an unknown reason a "stronger" magnet needed to be used. Again, thank you. If they fail in the next few months I'll definitely contact you. Otherwise, no worries. Thats just the way it is sometimes.

What magnet/where did you get it? I have an '04 that I bought the Titans for and never could get them to work. In Titan's defense, they did actually send a tech out to try and program the sensors to my car using one of the actual program tools, but at best he was able to get the left front to program and none of the others (even though all four sensors would read on his tool). They ended up telling me that they'd refund me the money for the sensors and pay for the installation costs of whatever sensors I would like to go with wherever I want them installed. Plan on just having the local dealership do this (when I get time) and having them install new delcos... But if I could find a really strong magnet that would actually work...

Thanks,
David

The magnet off one of my old speakers has worked for me.I have reset several sets without a problem.I also use the Titan sensors.I always program them before I install them.I made the mistake of not doing that once and that was the one time I got a defective sensor.

Tried that too (programming before install) and it didn't work.

The magnet my friend gave me actually came from some kind of a science experiment kit his kid had. Its pretty amazing!! couldn't crush your hand or anything but, definitely if it was bigger it would be very dangerous! lol

Default Titan TPMS

I wasted several days trying to get a Titan TPMS to train. I tried everything including a super magnet. Their TPMS specialist even suggested that I take off the rear wheel and roll it closer to the antenna in the passenger foot well. I sent the unit back and I did get a refund. I bought a Schrader OEM unit and it trained immediately. I figure I spend an extra $50 trying to save $30 on the price of a cheaper TPMS.

I had the Titans installed on my 98 a couple weeks ago and AMerica's Tire used the O magnet and they trained right away.. no problems at all. Did have to drive a half block before they registered.

Damn... was hoping it was something I could go pick up fairly easily... I actually have one of the round donut magnets that the tire shops use and it won't do a damn thing.
