I recently purchased this 2002 with 5,584 original miles. Other than painted calipers it is ALL original. Always garaged and covered. Never seen rain. The tires are in perfect condition. No cracks, no nothing. But, they are 12 years old. So, I`m asking you guys what tire you might recommend. I`m more concerned about a smooth comfortable ride.

I'm running Hankook Ventus V12 EVOs on my car and I really like them. Smooth ride, good handling and you can get into a set in stock sizes for around $600-650.

They are NOT runflats...but are great tires for the money. I run them in the front on my Vette and on all four corners of my Auto-X/DD VW gti. GREAT bang for the buck.

I replaced the stock tires on my '02 last summer. Went with Nitto NT555 Extreme for $600 complete. Great traction so far in wet and dry conditions. Another plus is the better ride and less road noise than run-flat tires.
The Nitto isn't a run flat tire but I picked up a $100 Slime tire kit with compressor for the "just in case" insurance.

I ran the Michelin PS run-flats for about 6 years - they were much better than the OEM Goodyears. They were down to about 4/32nds and were six years old, so I put new rubber on a couple of months ago. I went with the Michelin PS 3s non-run flats. The Michelin run flats were a nice ride, but the non-run flats are better.
Aside from lower price and better ride, I went with the non-run flats because I have the Magnesium Sport wheels and the extra oomph needed to mount and dismount the run flats tends to chip the delicate paint on the Mag wheels. Hoping that a more flexible sidewall will lessen the possibility of damage.

Same situation here. I have nearly identical C5 MY Coupe ordered bad bought new. 14,000 original miles and still original tires. Always garaged and never put anything on the tires except water, no shines, etc. They are perfect in everyway except now thinking of replacing because of age.

I give tires a max 5 year shelf life and then it's a gamble, especially on performance cars
The C5 convertible that I bought 3 weeks ago came with new Cooper Zeon R3-S summer tires on it. They are quiet and handle really well. I don't have any idea how long they will last, but I'm very happy with the performance.
