Default tire pressure monitors

Is there anyway to test tire pressure monitors to see if they work properly other than mounting them in a rim and tire?
Thanks
Glenn

You can try to train it to your car with a magnet, don't think it need to be in a tire, should at least let you know it's transmitting back to the car.

If they dont work, the batteries in them are gone. Be ready to purchase some. approx $ 60-65 depending on where you get them. I would think that there are some places to get some less expensive. Gohttp://forums.corvetteforum.com/images/smilies/salute.gifod Luck

Rock Auto has 15 OEM units remaining at 30 bucks apiece.

Good price. They are Schrader valves. They made the OEM ones too, so they are the same as OEM except the plastic housing is orange instead of black. They are for the '01-'04 cars.

The OP does not have his profile filled out, so no idea if he has the early or late style sensors. The early style are more expensive.

And yes, you can train them to the car while holding them in your hand (not mounted in the wheel or on the car). If they train, they will show 0 psi. Many people train them before mounting them in the wheels/tires because it is easier to do. Just mark them to make sure which position you trained each of them to.

Good luck.

When training them, they should cause the horn to honk as you move from sensor to sensor. If you go this route (training them outside the wheel), just label them in order (LF, RF, RR, LR) and then you can get them mounted in the wheel in the proper order without having to retrain them.
