Default Pads for 02Z

Planning on keeping the stock rotors for now and just put new pads on.

I am just doing spirited road driving, no track stuff.

My current pads (bought the car used) make a hell of a lot of brake dust. I know, the more aggressive the more dust.

Does anyone have a suggestion on some good pads for road driving with good performance that don't quite leave the front wheels black?

Thanks!

Take a look at the Carbotech 1521 compound.

Carbotech™ Bobcat 1521™ The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non-corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

F $140 R $120 I would recommend cleaning your rotors up.

depends on what you want to spend

cheap but decent pads, stoptech streets

little more, the hawk hps is similar to the stoptech but doesn't have the squeal

carbotech and porterfield both make some of the highest cost pads, have good reviews but neither has published a friction/temp co efficient chart which i would want to see before i spend that much on pads

I used Hawk HPS pads on my '00 and they did not make much brake dust at all. Very good pads for the money.

HPS are crap!!!!!!!! ask anyone in the autocross/road race section

Stock Zo6 pads are a lot better!

if you do not want dust get stock C6 Z51 pads, they are ceramic and they fit the fronts, all GM pads are Raybestos, damn good pads

otherwise i agree on the carbotechs, excellent pads
