Do your cars start out really low when you first start up then build to the specified pressures? Mine starts for a split second at like 18psi then builds to the 35-45 range depending on temp. Should I be concerned or is this normal for a start up?

with mobile 1 5-30 i see

40+/-2 at cold start
30+/-2 at warm idle which varies from 195 on the freeway to 220 in traffic or on the street putzing.

at around 270 oil pressure really struggles to build much past 40-45 even up around 6k

with m1 0-40 cold and warm idle are pretty much simmilar though at 2-3k on the street its definately higher.

I also will see over 50psi on the track till oil temps get up to 285-289 at which point they peak at about 45 at 6k. I dont like gettin git hotter than that anyways so its time for a cooldown lap at that point.

2002 Z06 27k miles with exhaust, intake, tune.

35-36psi hot idle (180-220F)

Cold oil idle is around 43-45psi I believe.

I run Mobil1 0w40 european formula (more ZZDP content)

This is an interesting question, I was curious about the same thing since the pressure in my z06 seems to be higher than any other car I've owned. Cold start at idle around 40 to 45 (Depending how cold)...

Oil temps at 210-225 it settles into a 28-32psi. Today it was warm out and I got on it a few times and oil temps went up to 235 and pressure driving at 25mph in the neighborhood at 1500 rpm was about 32, at idle in the garage with 235 temps it was 26 or so. At 45mph it hovers around 40-42psi at in 4th and 5th gear. As soon as you throw it down into third pressure is up in the 50s and at 45mph in 2nd gear, pressure is 58 to 60psi even if you're holding a steady speed.

My trans am with the LT1 would settle into a 20 psi hot idle...my old z28 that had a spun bearing would idle at 12, but man I put some hard core miles on that car and the 305 never gave up the ghost.

Yes, that's normal. Right after you start it up the car oil pressure will come up over the first 5 to 10 seconds or so....at least the gauge does, maybe it instantly gets to pressure but the analog gauge responds slowly?
