To answer chasboys question,I haven't removed mine yet but will a little later. One needs to be careful when pulling them out as they can break and that will cost you from $65-$75.00.

Had to remove mine twice. First time to install my signal mirrors. About a year later the Dealership had to replace my motor packs on both mirrors under warranty (separate issue). When they did that, the Dealership broke both my signal mirrors trying to reinstall them, so I had to order a new set and re-install them myself again. The stock mirrors have a full backing plate with a surround and my signal mirrors do not, so you have to be more careful with them.
I will let you know how it goes, but the plan is that you should be able to install the LED strip WITHOUT removing the mirrors from the assembly. You would just need to adjust the mirror to the full inwards position and use a small screwdriver or similar tool to place the strip for mounting.
After much consideration, I decided to shorten the strip to about half-length. I think the shorter LED strip looks much more classy. I've also found that the are best mounted not to the inside of the mirror housing as originally planned but to the rim of the mirror itself. This allows for easy installation simply by adjusting the mirror full-inward and applying the strip. From there just snake the wire through the housing with the use of a lead-wire and tap into the appropriate wires.
These are the prototype pictures. The LED strip is a little off-set, but it shows the idea. When these are mounted, the top will be even with the bottom.
This photo shows the LEDs in the worst possible light. Even in sunlight, they are still clearly visible and even more so when flashing.
Prototypes tested. They work great and are clearly visible during the day because of their position in the dark part of the mirror. Best of all, they can be installed without removing the mirror itself. This product should be available in the production version in late August.
(the driver's side strip was re-mounted to be straight after the vid was taken)

All the big corvette parts houses used to sell those chevron mirrors. $229. is what I paid 6 years ago. They weren't led at the time and have no idea if they're led now. I got mine from corvette central
Did some searching. $219. and they are hi intensity LED now
