I ran Into a Random C7 owner who happened to be one of the coolest guys I've met. He has a red C7 7speed.
The C7 is incredibly nice. The ride was extremely refined. I couldn't tell how fast it was actually picking up until I looked down at the HUD.
Everything about the interior was superb. Even the sound system was worlds ahead.
It didn't feel like a race car, the gauges and buttons were pretty over whelming lol It was IMO "too" comfortable lol
I now drive an 04 C5Z...like others have said, I'll be keeping it for time to come.
I respect the C7 even more now after driving it, it looks menacing in person. The curves are outstanding and really jump out at you.
Even the C7 owner couldn't stop complimenting the FRC look.
The C5 is unbelievably timeless. This C7 owner was roughy my age 26 and he couldn't get enough of the FRC!
I could only imagine what the C7 Z06 had to offer.
Corvettes are incredible machines. I respect & love them all.
Interesting. I really need to see one up close in person. I liked it at first in pictures, then I saw it at a distance in person and didn't love it. Not surprised about the driving dynamics being different, kinda like the base model c6's feeling less raw. Hope I get the chance to give one a spin eventually!
I had the opportunity last fall to go out to Spring Mountain and spend a few days driving C7's on the street and the track - a great experience!
The C7 is a completely different animal than the C5. More capable and comfortable in virtually every respect - a fantastic car without a doubt. Nonetheless, I love my C5.
Here are a couple of shots, one just before some track time and the other we picked up a local C5 on the way from Vegas to Pahrump.

That is so cool! Did you go for your GM dealer? My friend went to Pahrump for Corvette training last month, he works for the Chevy dealer here.
I would trade my C5 in a heartbeat and can't wait for the day a used C7 becomes my new ride! Thanks for sharing what in my gut I knew! 10,000,000 man hours designing the C7 there has to be some serious results...
New guy here (looking forward to an eventual C5 purchase). I was in the assembly plant a couple months back watching them get built from start to finish. A gentleman was there to watch his C7 get put together in the final stages and roll off the line. One heck of a cool experience for him (and me, ha ha).
Just with every generation of Corvette, technology moves forward as does the next iteration. But.......no doubt that the C5 will remain a strong choice for many given the styling lines and incredible performance.
