No I mean the 80 billion Obama bankruptcy bailout where OBAMA screwed the preferred shareholders at GM and gave the stock to the UAW, and then later sold the stock the feds held for a major loss. The feds also sold the Chrysler company to a foreign company. The 23 B in loans Ford had from the feds were paid back and in a timely fashion. The taxpayers got shafted on the GM bailout.
I agree, but It was Bush that started the auto bailout. Obama just finished it.
The government lost 10 billion on the deal. About a month of war spending in Iraq or about 10% the Fed gives to the banks every month..
Buoyed by lower debt, reduced labor costs and a focus on only its strongest brands, GM is emblematic of a revitalized U.S. auto industry that’s on pace to reap the fastest sales growth since 2007. While the U.S. said it lost about $10.5 billion on its investment of $49.5 billion, the government’s exit paves the way for an influx of fresh investor money.
I'm not much for ford cars, but I've owned 3 new ford trucks and kept each one about 8 years each, only 1 of em ever had to have any warranty work done on it and it was minor so it's hard to complain.

My Dad worked for Ford so I was always a Ford guy growing up. Had about twenty of them. Six pre 70s Mustangs, 64 Fairlane 500 High Perf, '49, '52 pickups, 70s pickups, 4 Rangers, and an assortment of other Fords. Never had any major problems and would buy another, but Corvettes are just a lot more fun.
I agree for the most part. My car does have a CAI and Magnaflows, the only mods. and no more are planed. Don't have runflats either, but I drove my buddies that does have runflats and they feel like rocks to me.
If I were 30 again it might be another answer though. I could never leave any vehicle stock when I was younger.
Are there better lights out there? Sure but I don't need them cause I'll never be out driving the stock lights anyways. When I compare my 99 Corvette to other 99 model cars out there, it is so much better.
I totally get your point and I felt exactly the same with my 99 C5. Until I got that bug and landed a good deal on my C6. It's very similar so I didn't feel completely out of place but has enough good stuff to say wow, I can't believe what I was missing for the past 10 years. Now I say that about my C6GS. Being truly happy is being content with what you have. We are a couple happy people. lol
Power is good but as many have said more is better
Bose is horrid..especially in a vert so just some minor changes needed
Runflats had to go and am a Ventus person for life
Cabin noise is ok
headlights...Holy Crap I literally have better flashlights and with my wife's DD being a 2014 Audi RS Q5 i get a little depressed every time i turn on my headlights. her fog lights are brighter
It's not that the seats aren't comfortable, they don't hold you in for **** in a turn and that is what this car was designed to do. If all you do is cruise your car, I am sure the seats are fine. I like to drive my car the way it was intended and the stock seats have no real side support.
I love my car, though. I just want to polish it a little.
My car is bone stock and the only changes I plan on making is adding window tint, chin spoiler, rear spoiler and side skirts. Some rims would be nice but they don't come cheap. More power would be cool but I have to ask myself how much of the stock power do I ever use. I don't track the car so the putting money into something I would use 5% of the time does not make sense to me. I can't legally use the power I already have so adding more is not a viable option for me. Some people crave more horsepower and there is nothing wrong with that. I use my car as a cruiser and it will be set up as so. To each is own I say.

"Never have enough power" and the Bose comment made my day. Being in the high end audio business, I concur.

I'm only 62 so being just a "kid" I don't agree with alot of what you have to say.
First of all (as Tim the Tool man would say) "you can never have enough power.
The last decent thing Bose made were their 901 speakers about 30+ years ago.
The seats aren't bad I'll give you that
The headlights suck but you would have to be out later than the early bird special to know that.
The stock runflats are so hard and noisy they are like running on rounded off bricks. The greatest improvement (other than the lights, its a toss up) was when I got rid of the runflats and put on some decent tires.
The only other thing I agree with you is the cabin noise is acceptable as you point out this is a sports car not a luxury car.
I think its great at 75 you are still driving your C5 and you're obviously not afraid of new technology (you're posting in a forum). A lot of people could learn a few things from you. Thanks.
PS I also agree with you that other than Lincolns (I bought a 1 year old V8 Lincoln LS about 10 years ago) Fords are crap (but getting better in the last 5 or 6 years)
