Default Z06 vibration

I understand that the C5Z vibrates a bit while idling because of the slightly hotter cam shaft. But when I shut mine down it vibrates at the very end. So after the key is shut off the engine comes to a lumpy stop - is this normal?

I just got it. It runs great in every situation - idles fine too. I think I am being paranoid.

No, I don't think it is. My 2001 Z06 idles fairly smooth and shut down without any lumps.....very smoothly.

Mine does the same thing. I think its normal, its just that beast of a motor shutting down.

Shut it down with the clutch engaged. Sounds a lot better than when shutting it down in neutral.

This! If you shut off the car with the clutch engaged it won't vibrate nearly as bad!!

Thanks guys! You are correct - its not as bad when clutch is engaged.

I would like to understand why it does this though.

It is the throwout bearing rattling. It's a design flaw. Doesn't hurt anything, just sounds bad.
