for a good answer. I really like the looks of the Z51 wheels on the C7 so would be interested in what would be required to make them work on a C5.

C7 wheels are the exact same offsets as C6 wheels; search for threads on those and it's as simple as that 
They'll bolt up just fine but will be tucked too far in; over 285s will VERY SLIGHTLY rub the inside of the wheel well. Run a 1/4" spacer with factory studs and you'll clear just fine, or you could do an adapter to get them perfectly flush with the fenders.
