I took the front bolts completely out, in the rears I used longer bolts. Now, in an attempt to not give bad advice on here, cause there is in fact, a whole lot of that on here. I will just share my brief experience with it thus far.

I was extremely skeptical about removing the front bolts altogether. I'm not about doing things the easy, or quick way. I'd rather do them the right way. Even if it cost a lot more money, I wouldn't sacrifice my ride, for 1500$. In this case, of course, we're talking about coilovers. But, do I want to spend that much if it is completely unnecessary, and I can get the same result with no ill effects by removing the bolts? Of course not.

This being said, I will just tell you to do your research. I spent countless hours researching this before I did it. You will find a lot of ppl advise against this, but these ppl have also never done this mod before and they are speculating, and rightfully so. On the other hand, you will find many ppl who have done this, been driving with it like that for years with no ill effects whatsoever. I personally have had no problems with it. Ppl also say the ride will suck if you do this?...? Nope. The Ride did not change one bit. Again, these are the ppl that have never done it saying these things. I'm not trying to steer you in either direction, I'm just sayin do your research, educate yourself, and make the best decision for you.

I'll say it for you and I've done it. Mines still lowered but it's got some bolt in it now.

I think some people have magical shocks or they don't know what hitting the bump stops is. If I didn't know I was hitting the bump stops I wouldve thought the vette rode decent with no bolts. But it handles like avsolute garbage with no suspension travel.

That being said- I am using c6z shocks with no bumpstops in an effort to squeeze every lil bit of travel I can. I have read that theses r the shortest for the vette, I don't believe it. There's gotta be a better option.

What shocks you using?

The factory Shocks are still on the car. However, I plan on upgrading soon. Possibly Bilstiens.

My question for you is Do you track your car? If so, I can def see where your coming from. If I were tracking, no way would I remove the front bolts. Without a doubt I would do coilovers. But for just crusing around with the occasional spirited pulls on a straight away, the car rides just fine with zero issues.

Thanks for the response. I'm in the same boat. The stance of your car without front bolts looks great, IMO. My aftermarket front lowering bolts did not lower the car as much as I hoped. Some of the cars on here with the same kit look at least 1/2" - 3/4" lower than mine up front.

Because of this, I've started researching removing the front bolts all together, but couldn't find much information on what people use between the leaf and control arm. Did you place a piece of rubber or plastic between the leaf and control arm? If so, what did exactly did you use? Any pics?

If I remove the bolts, I'll probably end up ordering a set of shorter shocks, if I can find them. I think I read that DRM offers a shortened Bilstein shock for lowered cars?

I don't track. It's just a fun car, but I can't deny a slammed c5 has a soft spot in my heart.

Lmk if you find any shorter shocks. Also for under the front spring- whatever u put under there grease it a ton. Most likely whatever u put won't survive. I tried thick rubber and it just disintegrated

You do realize that removing the bolt completely or even lowering the front end the rubber parts that are there will wear out dam fast .... You will have problems soon ..... Just an FYI

I'm curious James, Just what kind of problems? Do you speak from experience? Or are you just chiming your 2 cents in as to what you think... Would go wrong? There are countless ppl that have done this with NO issues. It seems to me that the only ppl against this are the ones that have never done it. Experience vs Theory. Hmm...

Btw. Since you posted a random pic of your car with no description as to why? or what's been done? Do tell..

It looks sick btw

Nope, pix not showing up.

I'll have to disagree with most of what you said about how you lowered your car.

I have first hand experience with the exact same method you used to lower your car on two C5's now. An 02 coupe and an 04 Z.

They both rode TERRIBLE.

It sort of reminds me of peoples perception of pain...it's DIFFERENT for everyone!

the way you perceive the way the ride feels will vary from person to person.

So really, who are you to say weather other peoples opinions or experiences are valid or not?
