I am a new member and just wanted to say what a great forum. I have owned my 2003 50th Anniversary C5 for ten weeks and have been able to sort out a few minor annoyances (door locks would not always operate with remote, cruise control disengaged whenever I went over a bump, trunk lid did not pop up high enough) just by doing a search on this forum. Thank you to all those who contribute.

Nice car Stu. - gotta ask the question : are your kangaroos as dumb as our deer are here in the states?

Yes, they're just as dumb. They do not look both ways before they bound across the road! That's why the DOT puts up warning signs for motorists. You always see plenty of dead native wildlife lying on the shoulder of the road. I've done a couple of road trips in the States and I do not remember seeing any dead deer lying on the shoulder of the road. So, am I right in assuming that you blokes eat your roadkill?
Dawn and dusk are the worst times to be traveling on country roads. I have had a couple of close calls, but have been extremely lucky. I know several people who have done serious damage to their vehicles.

You didn't drive in the right states. Here in North Carolina I think cars take out more deer than the hunters.
I've personally never had roadkill, but there was a roadkill cookbook out a while back.

Don't think a roo bar would look good at all on the front of your Vette, so be careful out there.
Lived in Perth, WA for three years (many, many years ago). Great city, sure do miss living there.
And BTW, welcome to the forum!

You have to have your cars converted to right-hand drive right? Did you do it or was it done when you bought it? Here in NZ we are allowed to import a left-hand drive if the car is over 20 years old, if you owned the car for 3 months before you imported it or if you get a special vehicle permit.

Yes, we have to convert them to RHD if they are less than 30 years old. I believe that Australia is the only "drive on the left" country with that requirement. The UK, NZ, South Africa and Japan permit late model LHD vehicles on their roads. Because of this, the latest word from GM is that they will not be building a RHD Corvette because the market for them is too small.
To import a late model vehicle from overseas and avoid paying the ridiculous tariffs and import duty you need to have lived overseas for a minimum of twelve months. Currently, a new C7 sells for $AUD230K which includes approximately $AUD50K for the conversion.
I purchased my car from the original owner. He worked in California for several years and purchased it new at the end of 2002. In 2005 he was transferred back to OZ and had it converted.
Very nice vette my friend, and the RHD is really cool!! I wanted to convert my 04 GTO to the monaro front and rear bumpers And $AUD230K for a new C7? Is that close to $210K here in the US? that's crazy expensive.
Good on ya Stu!
From a fellow Aussie and original Brissie Boy welcome to the forum and you have a great looking C5!
Yup those prices in Oz are super scary!!
Where in Brissie Mate? I was from the Redlands?
