I checked with the Chevy dealership and they use Dextron LS 75w-90 Gear Lube that has the additive for limited slip in it.
1) I'm wondering if this is what you're are using today as I looked at some old threads and found other products being suggested.
2) I have around 40k on the car and I change the oil every fall and have changed the coolant last year, but I don't believe the rear differential has been changed. The manual isn't based on months or years, but rather miles, and I have a long way to go to reach that threshold. In prior threads most suggest replacing the fluid for piece of mind while others have suggested not replacing the rear differential until needed as they began experiencing rear end noise "after" replacing the fluid. As a result of several of these posts I have held off.
I would appreciate any comments or recommendations on this. Thanks!
ironranger thanks for posting question. I will be looking at responses. I have been thinking of having fluid changed also. Can't see were in any of my paper work on car that the fluid was changed. I have a 04 with 15,000 miles. Concerned with age of oil in differential. I went to a corvette shop and they said they use Dextron with additive also.
Thanks for all of the responses thus far. It sounds like either Dextron or Amsoil will do the job. This is something I will let the dealership do and at this point I will probably be okay with them using Dextron, which they spec out for it.
If anyone experiencing any issues after changing this fluid, let me know!
