I am looking ahead to replacing the runflats on my C6 C6z and I recall just having had the patch kit on my C5z, but I never used it.
The TireRack inflation kit supposedly messed up the TPS but I never heard anything like that about the OEM. Also was told by various tire people that introducing a patching goop or fluid into a tire would change its balance characteristics. People were saying the integrity of the repair was not equal to a proper tire shop fix, so was not reliable, hence the reason the C6z went to runflats.
Has anyone used the patch kit and then run their tires for an extended period afterwords? Has anyone found an aftermarket kit that meets or esceeds the OEM offering?
I always thought the patch kit was just like using a spare. Temporary until you can get to a tire shop to replace the tire.
Yes I did some more digging and that is exactly it. If you get it to a tire shop right away the sealing fluid is supposedly easy to remove and then they do a proper patch if possible. Would still like to know if there is a better setup than the original GM kit.
