Default C5 Questions

I've got a few (maybe dumb) questions.

(1) Someone told me that when you have HUD it takes a special windshield?

(2) The previous owner installed 19" & 18" C6 wheels on my C5, how far off do you think my speedo is?

(3) When I press the 'Auto' drivers window button I have to hold it on so the window will go up & down. Any thoughts?

Thanks for reading...

Wheel diameter has nothing to do with it. How tall are your tires? What size are they?

P285/35R19 -26" Tall
245/40R18 - 25" Tall ( I know this one doesn't count)

Go out on the highway, with your Garmin GPS (or whatever you have). It will give you accurate mph. Compare with your speedometer at 60, 70, etc. You'll know if it's off a little. It won't be much.

Time yourself on the interstate between mileposts. 60 seconds per mile at 60 mph. Compare with your speedometer.

Yes there is a special windshield more expensive for HUD
But owners have used the regular windshield and although not perfect, it works.

Z06 shield is lighter...
Enjoy

If no Garmin but a smartphone is available download the App Speed Guage or Speed Hub that you can compare the speedo against. The smartphone App works on the boat too, should you have a boat.

stock rear tire is 275/40/17 which is a 26.6" tire. Get your rear tire size and plug it into a calculator.

I would venture to guess that your tires are the correct size.

#1. True, But a regular will work, Just not as sharp.
#2. Your speedo will not be off to my knowledge.
#3. You always have to hold it going up for safety reasons, But should go down with a quick tap, If you hold it too long it will stop when you remove your finger .

I'll try not to hold it too long and see if it goes down auto.

Thanks for the help

Use this one, or one like it. Original tire size should be posted on a label on the car. Plug the OEM numbers in and the ones you currently have to determine speedo effect. But really, the garmin or smartphone app is better.

Thanks R2R...At 65 it comes out to 68.02 MPH. But I will try the app as you suggested.

R2R, I did the smartphone app and it shows about 3 MPH faster than my speedo.
Thanks for your insight.
