Corvette C5 Whine while accelerating
My 2003 vette is having an issue, where a high pitched whining sound is occurs while accelerating, it is noticeable above 30mph.
The whine goes away completely in neutral or while the clutch is engaged.
The whine is louder at a higher speed.
Turning makes no difference.
The whine is louder in a higher gear. Aka the whine at 70mph, is louder while in 6th than in 5th, and louder than when in 4th.
No whine while parked and accelerating.
What would cause these symptoms.

Any idea where this whining is coming from ? Engine area? Back, right side , left side under your seat etc. ??

Taking a guess based on the information....
The belt, or something driven by the belt ?

Sounds like it might be the gears whining. Need more info!

Definitely gear whine if it only occurs on accel and decel. The ring and pinion need swapped. Maybe time for 3.73's and some C6 output shafts

Mine was doing the same thing. Got worse over the last couple of years so I had my diff replaced this spring. The old one was definitely worn and the limited slip clutches were gone. Much quieter now.

It's the slave cylinder
It's the slave cylinder. Change that put and replace it. Do the twin disc set up while you're there.
