Default Shipping wheels?

What has been the best way to ship wheels w/o tires? If I want to ship a set of bare wheels CA to WI what do you think it would cost?

Go to your local wheel or tire store and see if they have some empty wheel boxes (I got mine from Discount Tire). Pack and box and send FedEx. (Bus may be cheaper??)

You can go to their website to get an estimate. My guess (that is a wild a$$ guess) is $25-35 per wheel or $100-150 for 4.

That is exactly what I did last time I shipped wheels. The boxes were free for the asking at Discount.

A tire store that specializes in custom wheels should have some boxes you can get. Cost for four wheels should be around $100 or so.

FedEx or UPS store can box them for you. Or you can strap them to a pallet and have a freight company ship them (cheapest way).

?????

Keep in mind, the OP said a wheel..........

I know that the shipping distance will play a big part in the cost of the trip, but for example, I recently shipped a wheel from Rochester, NY to Anaheim, CA, to get the wheel repaired by the manufacturer.

The boxed wheel was 28 lbs, insured for $400, and it cost me $52. I "shopped" UPS, FedEx, and USPS, and they all were within $2-3 of each other. I went with FedEx because their location was closest to my home.
