Went to a local Sheriffs auction today because they had a 2001 Z06 they were auctioning off.. Its was black.. No title and no keys.. Other than being super dirty because it sat outside since Feb.. It didn't seem to be in too bad of shape.
Didn't know how it ran or potential issues.
Unknown mileage.. I guess we could have done a last minute Carfax report to see the last reported miles.
It sold for $13900 which I was a bit surprised with the unknowns.

if the car had regular emissions testing it would be listed on the carfax/autocheck
title is no big deal, once cops seize something, if they sell it to you, it's yours and you get a new title.
if the car was in good condition and under 120k miles that's not a bad buy, still, as you say, who knows about the issues, could be an oil burner, grind, have a slipping clutch, who knows
personally i don't think i would pay that unless it was a 50k mile car, need around $3000 of spread for the risk imo

Ran a carfax....
The Carfax does not show any miles.. Which is weird.. Shows 14 minor repairs...maybe it was out of state or county where it didn't need emission testing.

probably was. i bought my z from a guy who lived way out in the country. last reported odo was 26k miles in 2005 when he bought it
