Default It's a lotta work.

Spent the morning and afternoon claying, then waxing the Vette.
Actually the hard part was buffing the wheels, but considering they were quite dull, I am satisfied how they came out.
This outta be good for another year.
Every so often I will use MeGuiar's ultimate detail to keep it looking shiny.

Bob.

Car looks great. Here is a suggestion that will serve you well over the years.. As you get older, you need to pace yourself. I would never do clay and wax and wheels all in one day.. I subscribe to the Robert Duval and Sean Penn philosophy ( in the move " Colors ") You can "run" down to the pasture where the cows are and "do one "or you can " walk down" and "do them all "
At my age I only do two corners of my car in one day.. 2 tires , two wheels, two rotors and calipers, and two wheel wells. The next day Ill do the other side.

"As I get older"?
I guess the car may have something to do with it, making people think I am younger than I am.
I am 75, and very fit for my age.
If there is one thing I could never be accused of, that is, being a couch potato.
I am busy all the time.
Don't smoke, never drank, and try to do things to keep me healthy.
Today it was a lot of work, but I am use to keeping active, this was my exercise for today, other than taking the dog for our early morning, and late night walks.
I don't feel like someone 75, and as long as the good Lord helps me to maintain, I will keep doing what I am doing.
Last week end, it was going under the Tbird to replace the rear shocks, and leaf spring bushings.
The day may come when I have to do big jobs a little at a time, but for now, I am of the attitude, get it done.
Thanks for the compliments on my work.
I really appreciate it.

Bob.

As a side note, one thing I forgot to mention in my original post was, I did not use a clay bar, but opted for what I have been using for over a year on my two other vehicles, that being plumber's putty which is available at any hardware store.
As the lubricant, I guess one could use just about anything, but I like using MeGuairs ultimate detail for the lubricant.
It allows the putty to slide smoothly over the finish, while it removes the dirt particles that build up over time.
If you could run your fingers over the finish on the Corvette, you would feel it is soother than glass.
Some one on another site where I mentioned I had done my other vehicles with plumber's putty, went to the trouble of looking up the chemical makeup of both the clay bar, and the plumber's putty, and they are alike with the exception the putty has linseed oil in which the clay bar does not.
It works the same way as the clay bar, and obviously is a lot less expensive.

70 huh?
Well, if you're anything like me, these years are going to be some of your best.
Next thing on my list is to buy a service manual for the Vette.
I looked online today.
Boy they are really pricey.
I have, all my life, worked on my vehicles.
I don't like someone else messin with them.
With all the electronic gizmos on this car, I am sure there is some things I won;t be able to figure out, but most, excluding electronics, is pretty basic.
What I don't know, a service manual can teach me.

Car looks great, worth your effort. I will definately try the plumbers putty. I too think the clay bar and other similar pads are to pricy. My dad was 90 when he went to be with Jesus and he was like a termite, steady at it until he passed. Hard work never killed anyone. Pace yourself and keep getting up. God Bless
