Default Need a tool recommendation please

I'm going to be trying to repair the A/C vent doors on my 2001. Might have a vacuum leak preventing them from fully moving to the desired position.

Looking for a recommendation as to what tool will help me out the best in diagnosing this.

The vacuum line that's used for the doors comes from the back of the intake and is often the issue with the HVAC doors. When it fails/breaks the system default to top vents by the windshield so you will have defrost to keep the glass clear. What's yours doing?

I use a Mighty Mite vacuum pump for testing static vacuum and for bleeding hydraulic systems. Not expensive and mine still works after some 25 years. It has a gauge also so you can see if the vacuum holds. It is plastic but it works great.

It is doing just as you said. Mostly coming out the defrost. Maybe 90%.

I read up on the fix, but was thinking I might want to snag a decent tool used to pull a vacuum, thinking it might be easier to pinpoint any leaks. I'm not sure what they are called. vacuum pumps?

Thanks, I'll do a search and see what comes up. Most of the ones I saw when I looked, were harbor freight looking crap. I'd like something that lasts.

The might vac is good, used it a LOT on my C3 (everything was vacuum on that car). Your eyes are the best tool for your issue though.

Don't look for a vacuum tool to help you locate the leak, just identify you have one.
