Default P1120 & p1220

Cross posted on tech forum

2002 Z06 21k mi

Last weekend I had a cam installed, along with headers, tuned on Monday, picked up Monday evening from tuner.

Drove it around a bit on Monday evening then parked it until the next day. Took it to the carwash & it sounded a bit funny when the guy left the vacuum area but I just figured he couldn't drive well. It gets handwashed, hood was never popped.

I get it back & CEL is on & it says reduced power & service traction system. Check the codes & it's P1120, P1220, P1221, plus TCS code.

Limp it home & start investigating. Am told it has 0 correlation with my recent upgrades/tune, and a good friend at a dealer tells me that my throttle body just crapped out, he's a heavy line mechanic & he confirmed with another mechanic.

When the key is in the on position, the throttle body wigs out for 5-10sec, twitching back & forth & makes a loud clicking sound.

Well I find a guy with a used one in town, popped it on tonight, and same thing, except it's not giving the P1220 code, all others are there.

What are the chances of having 2 bad throttle bodies?

What else could it be?

Could be the Throttle Position Sensor. Doubt it would be the Throttle body itself.

However, if you are running high concentrates of ethanol gas, it will gum up the Throttle Bodies. But since you stated you just replaced it, willing to bet it is the Throttle Position Sensor itself.

Both the P1120 and the P1220 are Throttle Sensor triggered.

But you can't buy just the TPS can you?

Very strange to me why it won't even start now. I guess pulling the PCM fuses, gave it just enough of a reset for it to run fine around the block. If I could get stupid photobucket to host my video, I could show y'all what the throttle body is doing.

Well between my buddy looking at schematics at the dealership & talking with Bill I think we might have figured it out, fringes triple crossed.

Won't know for sure until this evening when I can get it up on jackstands, but wiggling some wires around and looking down from the top of the engine, I can see this
