What the heck are those stupid little panels behind each of the door handles? I knocked them both off within the first month or two that I had my car just by grazing them with my fingertips as I grabbed the door handle... of course, half the tabs broke off

I think there is a screw behind the little deal ..I got one from I think E-Bay 2-3 bucks ....Don't glue it will need to get to something behind in little deal if you ever need to take the panel off..

That's what I was thinking. What did you call it when you searched for it?

Behind those panels are two screws that need to be removed in order to take the door panel off.

Thanks, bro it drove me nuts when those tabs broke and the covers fell out
I have had at least 4 of those just fall off the door with broken tabs over the 8 years i've own my car and every one where quality GM factory parts LOL if that tells you anything. Speaking of, I need to order more now because it broke when i took the door off apart the first time. make the count 5 now. And yes there are 2 torx bit screws behind that little plug you must remove to take the door off, among other things.
