Default Muffler Delete...Yes/No

Thinking of doing a muffler delete. For those who have it done what are your opinions?

Thanks in advance!

I had it and liked it, but i want to do headers with a catless x and a cam and i think it would be to loud and not enough back pressure so i got the Borla Atak. But just muffler delete and rest of the exhaust stock, it sounds good. I had the Borla Straight pipes.

if you want to keep your low end TQ I wouldn't.

I think the Ti exh. is one of the best stock exh. out there. priceless to duplicate.

Don't get me wrong, but I feel like such a dork when I'm making more noise than needed to make the car go faster. Run silent, run deep. Love being able to romp on my 96 Impala SS with stock exhaust, and it is like, where did that come from.

I have the borla strait pipes. I would go with them again if I left the rest of the exhaust stock. Sound amazing. But with catless LTs it's ridiculous. I like it a lot, but I will be going to something quieter. I'd do it

A ton of engineering went into that exhaust. A good set of used ones is the catback bargain of the century.

I don't mind making a little noise, but I actually laugh at the ricers making maybe 200 hp and have mufflers the size of trash cans sticking out the back.

The Ti's do a nice job of keeping the noise down in my car with a stroker motor, heads, cam, headers and X-pipe. They make a civilized burble at low rpm and wake up like an angry bear when the tach needle starts to move.

Anyone know what the TI's sound like with a cam and longtubes with no cats? I'm beginning to think my Corsa extremes are too loud.

That's a VERY popular combo (cats and no cats; w/o will be slightly louder and more raspy)

Slightly or even not at all. I bought my coupe with a heavily modded stroker motor, no cats, LTs, X-pipe and Ti exhaust. After an unfortunate track incident with my motor, I had the cats put back on when the motor was rebuilt because I was tired of the annual 60-mile trek to the wink-wink, nod-nod state inspector who always failed to notice the car had no cats. The car does not sound noticeably different even though I had some other changes made from the previous motor. Mine are the high-flow cats from Kooks.

No mufflers here....I love it! The only sound suppression I have is the high flo cats that came with the LG Motorsports Streets and x-pipe. It is really loud and nasty when I'm on it, but purrs like a kitten and bystander friendly when I stay off the pedal. It's been told to me that kids cry and some adults do too when I rev it up.

I have the Magnaflow cat back system and for the most part I feel it's too quiet. But very nice on long trips with my bride. I am planning on installing a set of electric cuttouts just before the mufflers and can have the best of both worlds.

Mine had the SLP straight pipes when I bought it... with the rest of the mods, the drone was ungodly awful, so I picked up a Ti axleback and swapped it ASAP. With a stock car, sure, I'd be fine with straight pipes back there, but not with headers, x, cam, heads, intake...

Exactly what I have, you'll love it. Especially if you have a cam/full exhaust

Had muffler delete when I bought it. Loved it when I got on it but at idle it sounded tinny and cheap. Talking on phone when at highway speed was very difficult. Swapped in TI Exhaust and its much more livable. It's a bit tame for my taste but sounds good when you get on it. Throttle response seems better at low rpm with the TI's. If Corsa Pace Cars didnt cost an arm and a leg I think that is what I would do but alas for now I shall sacrifice and deal with what I have :P

I have the titanium mufflers on my otherwise stock coupe. I will be adding an x-pipe and either high flow cats or none first to get it a little louder, but I love the sound when I get on it.

I got quoted 140$ for straight pipes from a reputable exhaust shop in my city... But I think I'm gonna try the bypass mod first, to see if I like it. My last car had straights... And sometimes that gets annoying.
Will straight pipes make the CEL come on?

I have straight pipes and a Bassani X pipe on my otherwise stock z06. It sounds amazing. Just heard it at WOT from outside the other day and it is brutal loud. Its not too loud at idle, but as soon as you start moving it gets pretty loud.

Be ready for a ton of drone, some popping, and a very loud cabin (as if it wasn't already). Straight pipes will not set of the check engine light by the way.

Just remember, many muffler shops do not know that we have a ti exhaust, so they ended up welding the stainless steel straight pipes to the ti exhaust which broke in half once I gave it a nice rev. They need to take the bolts out and remove the entire axle back ti muffler, and recreate the entire setup. $140 seems like a great price for this, since I paid about $220 for all the fabricating involved. Took about 1.5 hours total.
