Any solutions for temporarily mounting transponders? I dont use mine that much and dont like the look from the outside even though theyve reduced their size. I could just leave the velcro strips on the windshield but dont want to see those either.

Mine is mounted high, immediately on the right of the mirror mount and within the dark tint strip across the top of the windshield. The lowest part of the EZ Pass transponder is equal height with the lowest part of the mirror mount. I don't even see it from driving position and only about an inch of it is visible from the outside below the tinted line.

I thought the tint strip could interfere with reading the transponder..at least thats what EZPASS tells you. Guess it really doesnt matter? Is your transponder the newer smaller version? Im wondering if the antenna portion is in the lower half..Maybe I should mount the whole thing in the tint strip and see what happens.
In addition to Badbirdcage's suggestion, spray the transponder and Velcro flat black. That's what I did and the transponder is invisible from outside and hidden behind the mirror on the inside.

Good idea. When the time comes that the battery wears out and transponder has to be exchanged Im thinking they might charge a fee because it was painted. Have you exchanged any yet that were painted?

Yes. I swapped the old larger transponder that I had painted black for the newer slim one ($8) and it wasn't an issue in NH. They just threw it in a box with other returns and didn't blink an eye.
My daughter has an ez pass holder that has 4 suction cups and the transponder sits inside a holder. When not using it she puts it in the console. Check Amazon or your local retail auto Parts store. They now make them for the new smaller sizes and the old large ones.

Check this out. I use the old larger one that is listed under "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought". Works great for me since I don't use it much and have three different vehicles listed to use one transponder with.
My ez tag is behind my rear view mirror and the wires coming off of my mirror hold it in place. They claim they won't work unless stuck to the windshield here but I've never had a problem.

I have not had any difficulties with the device being read by the toll areas. I spoke with a representative for EZ Pass prior to mounting for that exact issue and she advised me it was OK to mount behind the tint and that they were familiar with the situation on certain models; the C5 being one of them.
My EZ Pass unit is about 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 in dimension.

Not all the time. I had one deep into the gray area on my Acura with no problem.
Here in CA you don't have to worry about that crap. Just register your car/plate online and you're GTG. I haven't used a transponder for a couple years now.

Lol, really? I'm registered online but whenever I know I need it I bring the transponder.
I left the Velcro strips on mine, and simply stick it behind the passenger seat on the carpet of the rear shelf. When I approach a tollbooth, I just reach over, grab the transponder, and hold it against the windshield. It is only seen when I need it. I hate, hate, hate, hate any stickers or other crap on my windshield. Clean is mean.
We have the sticker ones too now. But when I had the big old style transponder I always painted them too with some trim black paint. They charged us up front for those $35 so they are ours and when they died or you wanted the sticker one they never asked for them back. I had one on my motorcycle and mounted it inside the plastic fairing worked just fine. I have taken them with me and just laid them on the dash, put them in pop up dash compartments they work just about anywhere as long as they are not behind metal. I even had one laying in the back seat once and forgot I laid it down back there until going through an EPASS and it beeped at me.
