Default TI Exhaust?

Why doesn't some company remake the original TI Exhaust? I would think they would sell like hot cakes. Buying a used set is buying a set that is at least 10 years old. Just my opinion. I really like the C5 TI's.

I'd rather see the Corsa Ti come back myself, there are still stock Z06 exhausts available in great shape all over the place but good luck finding the Corsa.

Perhaps the cost of making them is prohibitive. Even a 10 year old set can still be in great shape.

Titanium is not cheap and it's much more difficult to work with than stainless steel. Different welding process too. Probably not worth the investment for a small shop to make.

I can't be the only Z06 owner who thinks the TI exhaust is way too quiet.

It is very mild but great sounding at higher RPM in my opinion, when it comes to changing exhaust many members have done Cut-Outs or the By-Pass mod to the TI exhaust, Changing to a louder exhaust system give negligible gains if any and tacks on quite a bit of weight.

It sure is !!! I have them on my FRC now but maybe im saying too quite after getting rid of my B&B bullets ! the bullets were way too loud for me and the Ti's are too quite ! That's with headers, X pipe, Cam and many other upgrades and still too quite ! I have to find an exhaust that suits my taste just perfect without spending too much money ! that's the third time I change out an exhaust and sick of it... go buy the gaskets from the dealer , go to a muffler shop and wait , telling the guys how to properly lift my car, make sure the tips are lined up perfectly then not to mention labour charges !!!!

I think the volume is fine but I don't particularly care for the tone, which is why I went to a Corsa with x-pipe (and would have bought the Corsa Ti if it still existed).

I like the Corvette to sound like the world class sports car that it is, not like some 60's muscle car that can't turn or stop. It looks and performs like a modern exotic, it should sound like one too.

I put mine on the wife's 99 coupe. Sounds good on there with headers and high flow catts. I have B&B Bullets on my SC Z06 and am now thinking I would like something a little less "hey come give me a ticket"

That made me laugh ! I had the bullets on my FRC and my wife refused to come in the car with me, they were actually very loud ! she thought it was great at first but quickly changed her mind ! I have the Ti's now but like I said before too quite for me also! I think I might get the Corsa's next time !

Ive been running strait pipes for a while now and have been looking into a new axle back. I hear everyone talk about the Corsas, but never hear people going with a simple magnaflow. Seems like a much cheaper option and every time I go to my muffler shop, they recommend that for the guys that want sound. Still a quality system without drone from what I hear.

Im surprised to see a thread where people are saying how quiet the Ti exhaust is. Every other thread has everyone talking about how good they sound, but I doubt they do. Why are so many used ones out there for sale? Because they weren't good enough for the guys that had them .

I love titanium, but it isn't cheap. But as a metal, it's bad ***. I wish Akrapovic made a full titanium exhaust for the C5.

<edit> I love the sound of my ti exhaust, but I am adding an x-pipe and removing the cats to liven it up a little.

Ya, they are top of the line and make an awesome system for the C6. I use their carbon system on my CBR1000rr. They're mostly a moto company but moving into the automotive world lately.

I tell you now adding an X pipe won't do anything to make it louder but maybe the cats will ! I have tried many different set ups on this one and previous C5's , if anything the X pipe seemed to make it a bit quieter !

I see sets of ti's for sale all the time in good condition for $3-400. There sure doesn't seem to be a short supply of them. They are made of titanium so not really sure what can be wrong with even a 10 year old set, they aren't going to rust. Other than someone selling a banged up or cut up set they should be fine buying used. Plus they are going on another 10-15 year old c5 anyway That would be a low volume, very expensive product for a company to reproduce, I can see why no one does.

I don't mind that my Ti's are kind of quiet at idle and highway speeds. They sound great at higher RPM and weigh almost nothing.

I got a set of Z06 C5 Ti pipes for my C5 for $450 on EBay about 7 years ago. Lose 40 pounds, better sound. It is not loud but it does make a better rear view. If they are still available for that price, it has to be a deal. Titanium doesn't rust so being 10 years old, doesn't mean much unless you have metal fatigue.
