2003 manual; I've read posts from as early as 2008 on the security light staying on while driving. The car always starts and runs fine. Took everyone's advice and made a new key and had the battery checked at Advanced Auto. I still intermittently get the security light. So I ordered a new ignition lock cylinder since that reads the resistor on the key. I did not order the ignition switch. Am I on the right track?
I also have a B2721 code and a bunch others. I cleared all of them as I thought they were related to this code. I started the car and took a short ride and this time the light was not on. Rechecked the codes when I got home and there were none.

Reason: codes
You made the correct choice. It is a sensor inside the lock cylinder that senses and reads the resistor on the key. The ignition switch is not involved in the security.
Thank you, I ordered the part from my dealer, will be in Monday ($114). I'll remove the old one and bring it to them to fit the tumblers to fit my key.
My security light comes on every time I don't let the car go through all the startup lights. Like if I jump in and just start it up.. then the security light stays on till I shut the car off.. if I go slower it shuts off with the rest of the lights. I dunno...
