Default Michelin ps2

I was looking for tires in stock sizes and there are not alot of options but I see that pilot sport ps2's are available in the right size tho not cheap

I was wondering if anyone has them and are they worth the price?

Super sports are a superior tire and cheaper. I ran PS2's for years and just changed to the Super Sports and is a better tire. There not as loud, they don't cuff or skip when cold and they just hug better. Through a recommendation from tire rack I switched and glad I did.

Keep in mind that ANY Michelin tire is going to make you loose that razor sharp turn-in.

Michelin's have soft sidewalls compared to most other brands and especially compared to Goodyear , which tends to be on the other end of the spectrum.

Great tire for grip and traction, but not so great for turn-in and responsivness

IMO: Buy yourself 2 extra rear wheels and run 4x 285/35/18 Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Sell the 17x9.5 front wheels and you'll have superior tires for no more money than buying the obsolete PS2's.

Never thought I'd hear that PS2's were obsolete. I had them back in the day. They were great then. But, expensive and noisy. Didn't have any complaints about how they functioned though.

you are absolutely taking about something you know nothing about. the sport cup has a seriously fast turn in and the pss is vastly improved over the ps2.

the sidewalls on the pss are absolutely not in the slightest sense soft and the majority of the tire sizes are short sidewall which amplify it further. you also can address turn in with the toe settings, if you want to speed up turn in run zero toe or a slight toe out if it's an autocross, low speed, fast turn type setup.

the ps2 for all practical means is unavailable for the c5z. the rear 295 35 18 is now made only in the porsche N4 compound. which makes it a mismatch with the compound used in the 265 40 17

just brand speaking, for sport tires bridgestone probably has the worst rep for unresponsive sidewalls and michelin, yokohama, and toyo/nitto are generally pretty good

The Sport Cups don't count, they are pretty much a race/track tire and not practical for a regularly driven street car.

I have also had the PSS and the RE-11's back to back and the PSS ARE softer.

I also had Toyo T1 Sports on my TTRS stock and went to the RE-11, again, not even in the same league as far as turn-in and responsiveness.

Michelins (San the Sport Cups) are known for soft sidewalls.

re11 has a lot more rubber on the ground. i've driven the ad08 and XS. the pss isn't really worse on turn in. it just doesn't pull in as hard, you also have 10/32 of rubber and in smaller blocks. less rubber, more of a street design. all of the extreme tires like the ad08, re11 etc are very sharp. in the max class the pss is the top dog, it's close to an extreme tire, still can go 30k miles and is stupid fast in the wet. i'm sure it would fall apart before an re11 with heat though, the pss is a good street tire but it's not a track tire. the re11 you could use dual purpose. those things still work at 200deg and work well

Also I have had PS2 ZP's on my old C6 Z06 and it didn't come close to the Goodyear F1 SC G:2 on a Grand sport that I test drove either as far as responsiveness.

No experience though with the PS2 ZP and PSS back to back though.
