Default Rock chip fix ???

I have a white 01 roadster and I have a few rock chips in the paint and as you would know they show up more on white cars as they show up black.I bought a Dr Color chip repair kit but I am reluctant to try and do this myself as I don't want to make it worse than it already is.Any help or suggestions here will be greatly appreciated.

Non Metallic paint is relatively easy to touch up. White is almost as easy as black. Give it a try on a spot that isn't as obvious as the other spots.

I use rubbing compound 30 minutes after applying. Almost disappears.

If you don't want to do it yourself, find out who the bigger car dealers in your area use to touch up scratches/chips on their new or slightly used cars. Then see what they would charge.

As for the Dr. Color Chip product, I have not used it but did see a demo at Bloomington Gold several years ago. Guy sure made it look easy and the touch-up turned out good.

It's a bit more difficult for me with Anniversary Red since I have to use a base coat, mid coat and then clear coat. I get great results with a touch up pen kit. I am not familiar with the Dr Color product, but the procedure should be about the same.

Mask around the chip (start with one less obvious as stated above). Apply several light coats allowing an hour or two in between. When the surface of the repaired spot is higher than the surrounding area, stop and let it dry overnight. Take some 2000 wet/dry paper and lightly sand the repair until it is level with the surrounding paint. Then gently use some rubbing compound followed by polishing compound. The entire process can be completed over two days and will look great.

If you watch their video and follow the instructions you
will be ok. See if you can find a small chip way down close to the
ground on a door panel and try the first one there.

The really good advice is to find out who goes around to dealers and touches up their cars.

A pro will be good money spent, and you won't see any trace of the chip!

Look up Ammonyc on YouTube. He has an excellent video on how to apply touch up paint properly.

One thing I do in small touch ups is to get a very small brush. Then I cut the bristles until the brush is only about the thickness of a small paperclip. I wet the brush with paint and then wipe it so the bristles are all "stuck" together. Then I am ready to apply the paint. I just put it down in small drops and let it naturally blend into the next/previous drop. I never use a brushing motion. Take your time, there is no reason to hurry.

I have the Dr Color Chip product, was not impressed with the results, and paint color was not right, I prefer to use the brush method, build it up and then finish it off.
