Default Here is my 00 C5

I haven't checked in, in a while. Lets cut the story short I bought my vette, and a week later it over heated. It ended up being a stripped head bolt hole that a previous owner ignored. Then my tranny blew up. I got it built for $2k by a very reputable shop.(It shifts better than any car I've ever driven) Even the guy that builds 4l60e's every day said there were things done in my tranny that he had never seen before. (super cheap welded up crap that he has never sen before stuff) The car's run better than ever, but there is so many small things that a vette with 132k miles has that needs fixed. I have fixed a whole lot of things, but here is the car as it sits. Is it perfect? No....But its what I can deal with for now.
This is when I first bought it.

Embarrassing enough, this is how I rolled around for a while after I fixed the heads, and tranny then the back tires blew out. Lets just say I was out of funds for a few months.

This is what I'm going around with now. The rear is a bit high but the tire's I have get the best traction I've ever had and am not eager to get rid of.

Black on black with a black rear end.

I took off the terrible blue tint. The over sprayed tail lights and reverse lights . I am currently in the middle of a double din mod.

Be easy guys its been 6 months and I am trying to get the car back to what it should be. I'm only 25 and spend pretty much every bit of extra cash I have on this car trying to make it the best C5 I can.

While I like the original wheels better, you are making the car into what you like and it is looking very good. Good luck getting the rest of the things fixed on the car - you've made a good start.

Thanks for the words guys. The first picture does those wheels too much justice. I liked the style of the wheels but they are actually pretty beat up. I wanted to do something a little different since pretty much every corvette has some 5 spoke wheels on it. Not to mention the black wheels I already had from my BMW. They are brand new only about 3k miles on them before I crashed the car. The 18's on the rear ride crazy good, give the car a little more torque and weigh about 40 pounds less.

Ahh the quest for the perfect C5. Problem is, it's a quest that never gets done. Keep it up and have fun.

Hey to each his own.

The wheels are staying for a long time. Eventually I will get them powder coated gloss black instead of being matt black. The black plasti dip rear isn't going to stay. It was just something I wanted to do to see how it looks. It looks alright but I'm not blown away by it. Good thing about plasti dip it just peels right off.

My picture from today. The yellow calipers are not staying either. They are that color from the previous owner, and is on my list of things to change.

while the set backs must have been very upsetting with a newly purchased used car, at least you are on the right path.

I see people put a lot of money and time building up a car, while seemingly missing the big picture. Now you have the nicest VW bug in town, or a $50, 000 honda. Big deal it's still designed to be a mediocre car, and now it is a hopped up mediocre car.

I developed this cranky philosophy while working on an old Girlfriends VW, a car I think was assembled from three different cars, things were not as expected at times. So you work for hours and at the end of it all, you are looking at a repaired VW bug.

When I put in hours of work on my Jaguar and stepped back to reflect on the completed work, the feeling was quite different , although the aggravation levels while doing the work were about even.

The black on blue is hot. Add a glass top and the blue just pops.
