I posted this in the Tech section initially, but think maybe I should have posted here instead...
I am getting ready to order new cooling system hoses to replace the originals on my '97. There's only 33k miles on them, but from an age perspective they are probably already too old, so it is time.
For those who have already done this, did you also replace the original clamps or are they generally OK to reuse? If you did replace the clamps, did you use the same style of clamp as the OEM clamp or something different?
I am swapping out all of my hoses and belts this summer as my C5 vert celebrates its 10 year birthday.
I just ordered a full engine set of braided hoses from CCA and purchased their clamp rings as well, however I'm curious if the original OEM clamps can be reused. Probably not with the braided hoses, but I plan to keep the old hoses for emergencies. An old hose is better than no hose...
I hate the stock squeeze clamps. Anytime I take a hose off I replace the clamp with worm gear type. I find them much easier to use.
the main problem with the worm type clamps is that they will dig into your hoses later on the road, t-clamps work a lot better , little bit more but save your hose down the road
I changed all of my hoses with the silicone hoses listed in the forum often. I believe they came with new clamps. Yes I think the squeeze type clamps are superior than the worm screw type. Can be a pain in the rear to put on but that's only if you don't have the proper set of pliars. I have a red care so of coarse I bought red hoses. They look sharp.

Try Comp Cams Gator Clamps are all stainless & have rolled edges so they do not cut into the hose.
