Several "computers" in the C5. Do you need a BCM?? Or a PCM?? Or ???
Dealership just said it was the computer. Will have to find out more from them. They just said they were discontinued with GM and so they are supposedly searching. In the meantime I have found the letters BCM in my looking. Body Control Module but what does PCM stand for?
What were the symptoms that you were experiencing???
It said Service Vehicle Soon so we took it in. ONly owned the car a couple weeks and it has done it three times. The dealership (where we bought it) checked and said that it needs a new computer and GM does not make them anymore. They said they will try to locate one. We are getting impatient since we are just new owners of it.
I strongly URGE you to get to the car and PULL the codes. Print the above info and take with you if needed. When you pull the codes copy down the code and the H or C or HC that follow each code.
Post the codes back here. There are many here on the Forum that can tell you what is happening and what may be needed to correct the problem. That may well differ greatly from what the Stealership says....
Just went through this with my 97 found a pcm for 645 on eBay. Thanks to horse power addicts he found it for me. I would highly recommend taking it some where else besides the dealer though
It would be nice if you posted where you live. There may be some Forum members near you to help. If not, you may want to get in touch with the local Corvette club and find out who can help you.
I will start looking for a remanufactured PCM and BCM for you in case you need one or the other. There are several reliable companies that do it and even carry a 1 year warranty.
if its still determined you need a pcm you might find one at a tune shop like ecs, they don't advertise that they sell them but they work on thousands of vets so they might have acces to a few plus if they have one they can send it to you with a tune on it, just another idea, plus his tunes are awesome!
Have not found a source for the PCM yet but you can get the BCM for Rock Auto. It was redone by AC Delco.
If it were me, I would try sending a PCM to Cardone for repair. That way it should not require programming afterwards if they just needed to replace a relay or two.
You could pull it yourself and send it off.
We are really interested in WHY you went to the dealer? What was wrong?
Whole things sounds fishy to me. Rarely do the ECM die (unless the battery leaks above it ot the car is crashed on that side). I think the dealer is feeding you a line of DOODY.
