Im in the market for front rotors and I see all kinds..any suggestion whats worth the money? I am looking to spend ~$200-250 for both rotors...i dont autox or road race, just cruising and spirit driving here and there..
Centric High Carbons are a good rotor. I've given them abuse on the track and they handled it well. They also have the center coated black like the stoptech/powerslots so you can keep it pretty. Great choice, low price if you don't want to pay extra for, or don't care about the slotted option.
would the slotted centric rotors for $46.95 be worth it? Dont do any road course or aggressive driving just spirited.
I track my 02 Z. I've been told by every instructor from Ron fellows, Bondurant and Chin motorsports, along with countless C5 and C6 ZO6 owners who track their cars that the stock rotors are more than sufficient to stop the car. They all say that aftermarket rotors are unnecessary and very expensive, unless you are a pro driver and your car is a true race car. It's the pads that stop the car! And good pads for track days and auto x work great but dust is inevitable. Everyone wants to sell you something. But in the real world, they are cool but not necessary. And to a man say stay away from drilled rotors. I'm just saying they drive these cars every day at their limits. Who would know better then they?

all true
but
if you want a rotor that gets shiny and doesn't grey the high carbon centric/stoptech are the way to go. the centrics are the 125 high carbon series. either is listed at tire rack
real OEM brazil rotors are also great, but, expensive if available. the ac delco durastops are a china made raybestos in a different wrapper. not a bad rotor by any means and i'm even burning up a set. but...they are a lower carbon grey iron
Last summer I did a sh*t ton of research on brake rotors and pads for my C5.
I don't track my car, just drive it as a summer toy. I was looking to upgrade both the look and performance of my brakes over OEM, but just for spirited street driving.
The choices are mind numbing , but here is where I netted out...
Power Slot slotted rotors and Hawk HPS pads (I did not go with the cryo option). I installed them about a month ago, but haven't driven them much yet due to all the other mod projects I have going on.
These are mid-level components as far as I can tell. Certainly you can buy higher performance rotors and pads - and spend a lot more money. You can also buy cheaper components...but remember the old adage - you get what you pay for (or less).
For my intended use, these appear to be the best components for the money. Time will tell...
