It was very hot and humid today in the Toronto area today so I decided to keep the top up and use the a/c. While still in park I turned on the air conditioning and then hit my #1 seat memory button and the a/c disengaged immediately. Tried it many times with both #1 and #2 memory buttons and it did it every time. Is this normal? has anyone encountered this before? I went through all other functions such as turning on wipers, stereo etc and it only happened with the seat memory buttons. Very strange to me.
Sounds like you don't use your A/C much. The climate control settings are part of the "seat" memory (along with mirror position, radio settings, etc)...apparently the A/C was off when you saved the seat memory.

I realize I phrased that badly. Just to clarify...
The A/C and radio settings are stored in the same memory as the seat/mirror/wheel position, but they get updated every time the car is driven: that happened when the ignition is switched off.
So you started the car, turned on the A/C and hit the memory switch...and it retrieved the setting (A/C off) from when the car was last driven. Since you were in the car playing with it, the ignition never got shut off with the A/C on to save that setting.
Under normal circumstances it happens in the other order: the seat memory is retrieved (either by unlocking with the fob or hitting the button) and then the A/C and/or radio settings get modified and subsequently stored when the car is turned off.
(Still confused? The owners manual has a section labeled "Memory" that may or may not be clearer than what I just wrote. )

Thanks I do appreciate the info.I never even thought of checking the OM as I find it very odd that the climate control settings would be stored with your favourite driving position. I am just relieved to find out I don't have a short somewhere! And you are right it is very rare that I do use the A/C. It does blow nice and cold though. Thanks to all.

Not so odd if you think about it. The assumption is multiple drivers: when one driver (determined by key fob or memory button) next uses the car, it will set itself up the same way as the last time they drove it, rather than how it ended up when the other driver drove it. Yeah, the percentage of Corvettes with more than one regular driver is vanishingly low, but sometimes it happens.
