K & N filter ??
Thinking of installing a K&N air filter in my Vette. It's K&N part number 33-2111. Found the best price at Amazon, $65. Is it worth the expenditure? I'm running stock with Magnaflows exhaust, 16732. Running great right now.

How often do you replace the standard air filter? Once a year? What's your annual mileage? Add up the cost of 2-3 years worth of standard filters and match against the K&N filter and the cleaning/oiling kit.
The K&N filter is easily cleaned, but you do have to be careful re-applying the oil.

What would you gain other than to tell someone that you have a K&N filter. A standard filter runs around $20 and unless yours is a dd you're not putting on the mileage or driving conditions to have to replace it that often.

I wouldn't spend the money on it unless you are looking to run in competition. I had one on one of my C4's and over oiled after cleaning. Messed up the MAF. Not worth worrying about imho.

On my first Vette, that is now my wife's DD, I bought a used stock airbox. I cut the front of it out, where the filter is, and put in a K&N. Made a HUGE difference in seat of the pants feel. Some years later I found a good price on a K&N CAI and replaced the one I modded. There was no difference at all, that I could feel. I have a supercharged 02 Z06, I run that same modded stock airbox with the same K&N filter on it. Yeah, it is worth it, IMO. Just go easy on the oil when you clean it, which you don't have to do very often.
