Default akebono brake pads

Hi guys, has anyone in here ever used akebono ceramic brake pads? Doesn't necessarily have to be on the vette, could be on another car. I was recommended them by a local dealer over Hawk HPS and says never had a complaint on them, and that they perform better then the OEM pads. Thoughts???

I have them on my car right now. I like them a lot. They don't leave any brake dust on my wheels and stop really well. They're also holding up against some abuse on the street too. They've been on my car about a year now and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

You have them on your vette? How would you compare them to the OEM AC delco's? Also, if on your vette do you have the ACT, or the ASP version? Thanks

Yes I have them on the vette. I would say they are better than the delco pads. I have very good stopping power with these pads. They ride on a set of stock rotors. I believe I got the act pads but I can't remember off the top of my head. I know I got the ceramic ones.

I don't track the car. All the tracks are at least 5 hours from me so I haven't been yet.

I have them on my zo6. They are a great pad. No noise or dust. They have been on my car for probably 2 years. Give them a shot.

Thanks guys. I was going to return them and go with their asp series as they are labelled street performance. I primarily drive on the street and occasionally do lapping days so wasn't sure if these would be up to the task but I may just try them out.

Do these pads wear grooves into the discs or do they leave them nice and smooth? I don't like the dust, but will put up with it as opposed the pads wearing grooves into my drilled and slotted discs.

Take a look at the Carbotech 1521 pad. For street use this pad is pretty much unbeatable 100% non corrosive dust and performance very well weather in traffic or the canyons.

Carbotech™ Bobcat 1521™ The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non-corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

I run them on my Bimmer, Passat for main reason already mentioned...brake dust! German cars spew it big time.
