Got there at 7:45 this morning and there were already literally hundreds of cars and thousands of lookers. The hardcore types that just must park along with their brethren of the same genetics must arrive at 3:00 am. Really, too much eye candy, but mostly late model muscle and money mobiles (Ferrari, Lambo, exotic Porsches). Atlanta has a lot of young people living large, and if you want to see how they spend it, first Sunday of the month, right off of Windward Pkwy east of 400 in Alpharetta.
I made it out today in my Z16. I got there @ 8:15 and had to park in the Home Depot parking lot and walk over. I noticed another Z16 in the smaller lot that is officially part of the event. Several C5's of all body types were in attendance. Coupe, FRC, Vert, & Z06.
I haven't been there but my buddy goes with his GT 500 and he said in order to park with everyone else you need to be there by 6:15. Last time he went Calvin Johnson parked his Ferrari next to him.
I got there about 10. its a great show to see a diverse group of cars. you can literally see a 79 corolla next to a lambo and everything in between. it was a good day too, not to hot. I try to get there a few times a year.
One more comment: the local polizei is stationed all around the event to discourage car owners from overt displays of speed upon leaving, but you can only keep the testosterone under control for so long. We turned onto GA 400 north behind a ZL1 Camaro with a Vengeance Performance decal on the rear window, and he got into it with vigor up to what I would guess was around 140. I was in my DD (Mazdaspeed 3) loaded with large family members. so I didn't even try, not that it would have been a contest.
It was my first time. I was told to get their early. So it was around 4:45am and fine the place. At 5am I saw a group of Honda's and follow them. At 5am their were about 20 cars and at 5:30am the place was filling up fast. At 6am parking lot was fill and it was into the over flow lots.
I would take the 'Vette, but there are so many interesting cars there that it wouldn't merit a passing glance. BTW, I could live comfortably for several years on the money in aftermarket wheels that were on display.
The show is absolutely mind-boggling for anyone that has never attended. We typically have 20+ customers, as well as our shop cars, up there every month. We had to skip this month as we are prepping for the TX 1/2 mile race this weekend, but will be back with our full display in August!
We arrive around 5:00am to start prepping our display and getting customers in to park. It's usually full by 6:00am in the main lot.
If ANY LSX vehicles are there early enough, you are always more than welcome to come park with us!
