During local cruises when the speeds are low, after a while the console gets so hot,you can't stand to rest your leg against it.Is there any reasonable cure or fix for this?Had my pistola in there and it was really hot to the touch.

Here is one solution. I have not used it and have no conection, but it may be an answer to your issue. Good luck.
The problem is the cats get very hot.. without alot of air flow ( slow moving traffic ) the cats passively heat up the tunnel. You can insulate under the console, you can buy a ceramic coated tunnel plate. You can put some insulation under the rug where your leg rests against the tunnel area.

Do this and it will definitely help. There are several insulation kits you can buy, one of them being from Marc at VetteNuts and the insulated tunnel plate can be bought from Elite Engineering I believe.
I was too cheap to buy any of the Corvette-specific insulation kits. There's also a thread floating around somewhere on this forum about the tunnel plate insulator. I remember with satisfaction (not spite, just cheap) that the guys who paid for that method said they didn't notice any difference.
I removed both sides of the front carpet pieces and the console itself and covered the entire section with 1/4" and 1/2" sheets of styrofoam. I scrounged them from a "Michael's" store--they were throwing out sheets of styrofoam packing as they unpacked deliveries. I'm sure you can find sheet styrofoam discarded from some of the big retailers' shipping docks if you ask the store manager. The big 3'x4' sheets make it easy to one-piece a "custom fit".
We don't notice the heat on the sides at all anymore. I, too, pack in the middle console, and the slide gets warm after 4-6 hours of driving, but candy doesn't melt in there anymore.

Before bringing mine out this year I put the insulation kit in from Marc at VetteNuts and installed the insulated tunnel plate from Elite Engineering, I also installed XSPower headers (coated) and x pipe this year. I have zero heat issues, the console is cool to the touch. I couldn't be happier with how it worked out.
That's a great price, where were you 12 years ago!!
I did this mod 12 years ago I even posted pictures and the results.. Mike Mercury did the same thing after me, this mod has been around for a very long time. and did a tutorial. after I did this , .. then I started to see others, make and sell kits, to this end. I used simple but effective products you can find at home depot of Lowes. of course they are not cut, but the effect is the same.
I did mine about 12 years ago from that thread, but the pre cut kits were not around, I had chunks of Frost King stuck to my shirt, backside, and shoes. My son asked if I was making an aluminum hat to keep the voices out of my head.
