I think the op should just stop now and take it to jiffy lube.

Counterclockwise to loosen-YES!
I just changed the oil myself and with the batwing oil pan on my 416 I was beginning to wonder that with the drain plug facing forward and zero cooperation for the first little bit, I was beginning to wonder the same thing.

We all have to start sometime. It's better to ask the question, is it not?

True, but hopefully you learn basic mechanic skills before owning a Corvette. On the plus side, it is a pretty easy car to work on yourself overall.....
If your going to work on it yourself, then don't be cheap, get the service manuals...

I will note that I for one have had a drain plug that fought every degree of rotation on its way out of the pan - and brought more than a little pan aluminum with it.

Oil change places are notorious for over torquing drain plugs. Also you should start the plug by hand before using a wrench/socket to tighten it.
