Default a/c drain udder

I had water in the passenger floorboard and some electrical malfunctions. A/C drain was clogged. Removed the A/C drain udder and cleared the blockage. Question is, do I need to reinstall the udder? It seems impossible to get it back in place. Can I leave it off, or am I asking for trouble? I searched, but couldn't find any info addressing my question. Thanks for any wisdom you can provide.

I would not leave it off, It helps if you use some oil to push it back in, but it doesn't help reach it did you snip the end off? I had my tech do that when I had an oil change.

I rolled the ends back on mine. I couldn't bring myself to cut them off. And I got tired of cleaning the leaves out of them

Mine has been off (dropped it while trying to get it back in place) for a couple of years now. The only consequence is the hissing of condensation overflow hitting the header collector when I park it. The udder looked to me like nothing more than a way to clog the drain. We never found the lost drain udder, it went way of lost socks and tools.
A so what issue, IMHO.

I still can't seem to locate where it is exactly. I have a puddle under my car every time I park but I can't find this utter I hear so much about. I don't have any water in the cab, just under the car.

A picture of where the damn utter is would be awesome.

Just behind the passenger side head. It's easy to reach from the under side of the car, but you need long thin hands to reach from the top.

Thanks, Bill. I would check at lunch, but I rode my Sportster today.

I'll see if I can find it. Do I need to pull the cowl over the wiper arms?

No, if you have a lift it's very easy to remove and snip off the end. If you remove the passenger side fuel rail cover it's easy to see it. But still hard to reach. It comes out of the firewall below the wiper tray.

That means it's working. When you don't see water under the car after a drive on a humid day with the A/C on...

The term "udder" really doesn't apply to that drain tube anyway (or else something got cut off mine already). The big ones that collect the leaves/etc are the much larger drains for the cowl/wiper area.

So if it's leaking on the ground under the car, then it's ok? Good to know.

4 days after I bought my car I took it on a road trip down the Oregon coast to my folks place in California. While checking out the "Elk viewing area" about half way there, I managed to bottom out on a HUGE speed bump in the parking lot. Shortly after we had stopped for dinner and I notice a huge puddle forming under the car. I thought I might have done something until I noticed it was pure water. I was a little freaked out at first.

Yeah, pretty much all cars do it.
Although I suppose Mercedes etc have some system where it stores the water and then dumps the tank when the car is above a certain speed, just so their customers' garage floors don't get water-spots.

I guess I've just lived without A/C for so long I've never noticed. I'm a windows down kinda guy.
