I am new to the forum because I am new to Corvette living. I recently purchase a 2001 C5 Coupe , manual. I am looking for a C5 take out low miles diff. If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it.
I am in Southern California....and can pick up just about anywhere on the west coast .
You might have more success posting this in c5 parts as a "WTB" thread.
(edit/ nevermind, I just saw it there )
Also, give rpmtransmissions.com a check, they build awesome transmissions and diffs

If your car is stock, and you're just looking for a stock replacement, you'll want a C5 differential with a 3.42 gear ratio. All years are cross compatible (97-04) but the 01-04's have slightly stronger cases.
You can usually find one in good shape for $400-600 depending on specific condition.

The diff is whining under acceleration, most noise between 65-70. I believe it is a pinion bearing as does two mechanic. Not shot ,but I would like to replace if I can do it reasonable. I just started looking for a diff...ac couple on ebay but to much money.
problem is, unless you pull it from an operating vehicle, it may not be any better than what you have. The job is a bitch and you don't want to do it twice. or 4 times
And if you might want to mod it, now is the time for a ratio change. Just use a shop that really knows these rears like RPM or RTK56 . I know I keep harping on this, but I wish I had.
