Default Supercharger & Valve Spring Question:

What's up everybody. I recently swapped out my valve springs in my 2002 Z with the PAC 1218x (beehive) springs. I plan on adding A&A's supercharger kit as well. My question is Will these springs be ok to run with a supercharger? Thanks for your input.

Yep, just put over a year and a half banging my PAC 1218's up to the rev limiter and no problems yet since it's been supercharged. BUT I had my springs about a year earlier before the supercharger and run it pretty hard with the 228R cam and headwork.

PAC 1218's are pretty stout! At least that was my experience. Who knows what the future holds tomorrow.

Nice! Thanks for your response rick. I knew they were stout, but wondered if they would hold up with FI. What kind of supercharger are you running and how much boost? Also, will the stock clutch hold up? And if not, what kind of clutch do you have?

You will do good with them. But if me I would have them checked out to test them that all are good are about the same. Dont want a bad are weak spring. Robert

Will be changing my springs soon. Leaning toward PAC 1518's. How do you test a spring?

Good idea. Thanks Robert.

So is anyone informational about my clutch question? At what point, or hp number would I need to change it with running the SC?

I am running pac 1518s over 700rwhp and no issues so far... my stock clutch held fine at 420rwhp and when I did the blower the clutch completely let go at about 8psi which I would guess was about 600hp or so... if you do a blower just go ahead and put a good twin disc in, you will need it

All I'm running is American Racing long tube headers (1 7/8), B&B Bullet exhaust. On a MUSTANG (not dynojet) dyno bone stock my Z06 hit 320 wrhp. With the headers & exhaust it's around 345. With the basic A&A kit my tuner said I should be around 495wrhp.

So. Would you say go ahead and get a twin disc? Or could I run the stock clutch for a while?

I know eventually I would need to upgrade. But is it absolutely necessary for the time being? Thanks for your response Neutron.

Supercharger is a Si V3 with a 3.6" pulley and I don't know what boost it is but it's pretty conservative. RWHP is about 550+ depending on varibles maybe a little more. My clutch is the LS7 set-up good to 700+ HP and is VERY driver friendly and trouble free.
