grinding down rear spindle??

grinding down rear spindle??

Can I grind down the very top of the rear spindle where the 2 little humps are? There rubbing on my 17x11 zr1 wheels. Thanks

You can a little. I did to get my 16" drag set to fit. But be aware, they are caps to the ball joint underneath. If you go through it will expose the ball joint and squeeze grease out. If you look closely, the side of the cap towards the outside of the wheel well is higher than the inside. You will need to focus on that part. Just do a little at a time until there's no rub.

What about a slight spacer? While I'm not a fan of wheel spacers, a thin one could be a solution without grinding on a suspension part. I'd be very hesitant about doing that.
