Striking and beautiful in my opinion.
I seem to remember a Yellow w/Red but that combo didn't grab me personally, too garish... the only factory yellow I liked was the subtle pale pastel yellow color they had way back in the day.

I have to agree, the contrast is striking.
Taste is no doubt, very personal. And with factory cars, it is not about taste, it's about sales and profit. Just because some color combos have been done, doesn't mean it should have been done. It's only a mistake if it doesn't sell.
I don't go for a big color clash with interior colors. My favorite dark blue car has a light baby blue interior. Tan comes in a lot of good car interior shades and can look good with blue. I tend to go for colors I would be sitting on at home in a relaxing situation.
I don't have a bright red couch with a bunch of skull decorations hanging around my pad. Some guys do. I like a subtle interior, some don't. The car design itself is not subtle, so go crazy.
